Currently Dr. Ved S. Kawatra resides in Sands Point, New York and is retired, but since the death of her husband participates heavily in the real estate management company that she and her husband founded in 1978. Prior to co-founding her company, Dr. Kawatra was a professor at Medgar Evers College, City University of New York, where she was awarded Best Teacher of the Year in 1976. She was also a Director of Public Service Careers Program, Radio Corporation of America and Director of Human Relations for the Regional Opportunity Centers of the City of New York.
Dr. Kawatra holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from New York University. She was married to her husband, Mahendra P. Kawatra, for more than 53 years (Dr. M.P. Kawatra passed away in October 2015) and has 3 daughters as well as 7 grandchildren spanning ages 21 to 2.
